Welcome to the Credit

Association of South Africa (CASA)

Welcome to the Credit Association of South Africa (CASA) - The Home of Responsible Credit

We bring together ethical and professional credit providers to build a fair, sustainable, and inclusive credit industry.

Our Governance

CASA is a member-based, non-profit association governed by an Annual General Meeting, an elected Board, and specialised Board Committees. We are registered as a Section 21 Company (1996/001116/08), with MVB Auditors as our auditors and Nedbank as our official banking partner.

Our Story

The start of our journey as the trusted voice for responsible credit providers.

2016

Foundation of MFSA

Founded in 1996, first known as Association for Microlenders (MLA), and then Microfinance South Africa (MFSA), we began as a trusted voice for microfinance providers. Over nearly three decades, we grew into South Africa’s largest representative body for non-bank credit providers.

2004 - 2025

A Growing Industry

From its microfinance roots, South Africa’s credit industry has become a dynamic ecosystem of innovation. Supported by technology, data, and forward-thinking service providers, it now drives access, inclusion, and opportunity nationwide.

2025

Evolving with Purpose

In 2025, we evolved into the Credit Association of South Africa (CASA), reflecting a broader mandate and renewed purpose: to serve the entire credit industry.

2025 and Beyond

Building the Future

We will continue to enable credit providers to thrive, while contributing to the growth of the South African economy.

2026

30 Years of Service

CASA proudly celebrates 30 years of service - 3 decades of empowering credit providers, advancing financial inclusion, and strengthening South Africa’s credit industry.
